Cornings Inc., the creators of Gorilla Glass changed our cell phones by making the screens almost indestructible. Gorilla Glass coating on the screen is thin, light and damage resitant. Both Apple and Samsung boast this armor on their products.
Now for the first time, Gorilla Glass will be used for automotive application. Ford has announced here that 2017 Ford GT will have Gorilla Glass for for its windshield and rear engine cover. Being 30% lighter than the traditional glass, Ford GT’s windshield will be about 12 lbs lighter.
